Tories In Radio No Show

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 25th Apr 2005

Voters in North Wiltshire were treated to a lively debate on BBC Radio Wiltshire on Monday morning. However, despite the invitation being open to all candidates in North Wiltshire the Tory candidate, James Gray, did not attend the event. As such the Tories were unable to put out the negative message they have been attempting to convey and heard from the only real candidate for North Wiltshire, Paul Fox.

Commenting on the radio interview Paul said: "I felt that this was a great opportunity to speak directly to the electorate in this constituency. Although unfortunate that the Tory candidate didn't want to attend I don't want this to overshadow the positive message that we are putting out to the voters. We were able to discuss important issues such as crime, immigration and the economy and put forward the Liberal Democrat approach on these topics."
