Liberal Democrat party President Simon Hughes visited Chippenham today to lend his support to Paul Fox's campaign to become the new Member of Parliament for North Wiltshire.

Simon arrived on Wednesday evening to add his weight to the growing tide of support sweeping the constituency. He went canvassing in central Chippenham with a group of councillors and volunteers on Downing Street, Canterbury Street and Audley Street. It was hugely successful visit of which Paul said:

"I am very grateful that Simon could spare the time from his busy schedule to come and add his backing to our campaign in North Wiltshire. We are gaining momentum every day and it was brilliant to have Simon with us to see the positive reception we are getting from people on the doorstep."

"We are also pleased that he appeared with our congratulations card that we have got for Charles Kennedy on the occasion of the birth of his son. We wish both Charles and his wife Sarah all the best for the future."
